GBC Throwdown
When: November 19th-20th, 2021

Competition:
This contest is a KCBS sanctioned contest (as well as GBC qualifier) and has Professional, Backyard, and Kids Que divisions. The event will also feature a double SCA steak comp on Friday evening. (Click here to register)

Kids Que:
Kids Que competition (meat is ground beef and will be provided for cooks) will be on Saturday (20th) with a turn-in time of 2 p.m. and they will be given grills to cook on. Age groups will be 6-10, and 11-15. If not enough enter then we will combine groups. If you are wanting to register a standalone KQ team, or have already submitted a Pro/BY application, just email me at and I'll get the pertinent details and add them to the list.
Turn-in times:
Professional-- 12pm (Chicken), 12:30pm (Pork Ribs), 1pm (Pork Butt), 1:30pm (Brisket)
Backyard-- 12pm (Chicken), 12:30pm (Pork Ribs), 1pm (Pork Butt)
Kids Que-- 2:00pm for both age groups, kids will share grills two to a grill (Chef's Choice)
Cooking space size:
Cook spaces are generic 20'x40' -ish but can accommodate any size rig/setup within reason.
Kids Que cooks will be provided grills and space to cook
Arrival & departure:
Teams may arrive from Thursday at 9 a.m. to Friday beginning at 9 a.m., or Saturday as necessary, but there is no extended stay through Sunday. Please break-down on Saturday evening as they have another scheduled event at the fairgrounds Sunday morning.
Meat inspection & turn-in boxes:
Meat inspection will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday (20th) until 4 p.m. (or later if necessary). Turn-in boxes will be provided to teams after arrival.
Cooks' Meeting:
There will be a cooks' meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening in Horton Hall.
Prize Money:
This contest will have a set prize payout and is reflected below. Please note that this is last year's payout and we are working to increase the overall payout to more than $14,000 but still have details to iron out. Stay tuned for more details on this!
Pro Purse Total: $7,700
Grand Champion: $2,000
Reserve Grand Champion: $1,500
Each category (of four) will pay the following.
1st- $400
2nd- $300
3rd- $200
4th- $100
5th- $50
Backyard Prize Total: $1,125
Grand Champion: $300
Reserve Grand Champion: $150
Each category (of three) will pay the following.
1st- $100
2nd- $75
3rd- $50
Kids Que Prize Total: 1st place in each age group will receive an award/trophy as determined later

Refund:
PLEASE NOTE! NO REGISTRATION FEE, OR DEPOSIT, WILL BE REFUNDED AFTER THE DEADLINE TO REQUEST ONE HAS PASSED. THE DEADLINE TO REQUEST A REFUND IS 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT DATE. ALL REQUESTS AFTER THAT DATE MAY HAVE THEIR DEPOSIT/REGISTRATION FEE FORWARDED TO THE NEXT YEAR'S CONTEST FEE, BUT NO REFUND IS GIVEN AFTER THE DEADLINE.
Payment:
Payment can be made by check, or by credit/debit card. Entrants can also pay $50 deposit upfront to register and save their spot, with a follow-up invoice that is due no later than November 5th, 2021. Anyone wishing to make credit/debit card payments will incur a small convenience charge at checkout.
Those totals with fees included are $358.18 (Pro), $204.81 (BY), and $51.43 (deposit).
