Hey all! I wanted to remind everyone of the quickly approaching 2019 Hawgin' On Lanier BBQ competition here in my hometown of Gainesville, GA. The contest is held just inside of Laurel Park (off of Hwy 129) right on beautiful Lake Lanier. There's plenty of amenities close by like a restroom facility (which portajons will be on-site of course).
There's also a dog park just across the street from the bottom end of the gravel competition area. Further into the park you'll find tennis courts, ball fields, pavilions, walking trails, kids play areas and even a spray ground for the little ones.
There's also plenty of places to stay close by (within a 10 minute drive-time), as well as a fine selection of restaurants and bars to choose from if that suits your fancy!
This competition is one that I used to run back in the day when the Gainesville Jaycees used it as a charity event, but thankfully to Stan Kamanski, he's resurrecting it to be a KOD style, competition only, BBQ contest to bring back the feel of the first couple of years where it was just a contest. The awards will also be held in the same area as the contest, something that will surely delight those who didn't like walking further down into the park at 5:30 on a hot summer's day!
The entry fee for the contest is $300 for Pro, $150 for Backyard, and $25 for Kids' Que (or free with any paid entry in either Pro or BY). If paying by check you can mail it in, or you can pay online via the website store (there is a small convenience charge on all online payments). More details about this event and how to sign up, whose attending, turn-in times, etc can be found by going to the website at https://www.hawginonlanier.com/
Thanks and I hope to see you all there!
